Every child deserves a home, but unfortunately there are many who will never have the opportunity. It truly breaks our hearts. My wife and I were blessed to adopt our son Morris from China last year. He is such a little light! When we were at his orphanage we noticed there was not a playground for any of the 70 or so children to play on. We came to find out that the nannies and workers don't really have the opportunity to take the kids out of the orphanage very often. We talked to them about a place they had designated for a playground, onsite, but they don’t have any funds to make it happen. We are returning to the orphanage to adopt Morris' best friend Tucker this summer.
UPDATE- As of February 2014
They have finished the new rooms connected to the playground site that will be for physical therapy and Medical and they have laid the new foundation for the playground. They have not put the equipment on the playground yet. As the money comes in they will be building a fence, putting down the soft mats, then purchasing play equipment. The kind you would see at any preschool/school playground here in the U.S., One with slides and a jungle gym. They have done all of this with donated money from families that have adopted from this orphanage. As the donated funds come in they will continue to add to the playground project. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED THUS FAR!!!
It will be such a blessing to these precious little kids, most of who are special needs. Please consider helping if you can.
UPDATE- As of January 2015
I just wanted to let everyone know that with all the individual fundraisers (many have done) close to $10,000 has been raised for the orphanage playground!! God is so good and goes above and beyond. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE MADE THIS HAPPEN!!
UPDATE: Jan 26th 2016
Statement for Lifeline adoption family donator: From the Orphanage.
The reasons why we have not set up the playground according to our preliminary agreement :
1. The playground initially was planned to build on the top of a new building 1 . However, this project was not able to be approved by city construction building due to the security reason .
Currently they plan to find a space on ground floor to build the playground . It would be confirmed the location after the building 2 was completed .
2, The budget of playground is around RMB140000 , we only received the first installment .
The merchant didn’t want to make partial installation .
